『誓って休暇を取ろうとしたのに、結局踊ったり奏でたりしてしまった！』
「コンドルズ」の楽しみ方は２つある。ひとつは非常にバカらしいチャーミングなコント。もうひとつが近藤良平のソロダンス。発汗ヒッシャキ情熱男子群舞はオマケ。でも、「グリコのオマケ」のようにあくまでも主たるオマケ。その近藤のソロ「誓いの休暇」だ。ダンスの楽しみ方は３つある。ひとつは作品観賞。ひとつはダンステクニック観賞。もうひとつはダンサー観賞。この場合、必ずしもテクニックが優れていなくてもよい。ダンサーというよりも、人間のキャラを観賞して楽しむ。日本のコンテンポラリーダンスには、この第３の楽しみ方が結構ポイントになってくる。近藤良平の楽しみ方は、この第３のダンサー観賞、キャラ観賞が中心になる。それに「１００円ショップ的アイディア即席工場」みたいなチープでカワイイ展開がそれを盛り上げる。近藤は一見テクニシャンに見える。確かにターンやジャンプ、全体のムーヴメントはシャープネスだけど、そんなにメチャウマのダンサーではない。ダンスボキャブラリーもそんなに多くない。ただ、ホイチョイ感というか、気合を入れた格闘技風のムーヴメントなどで、観客はコロッと猫ダマシされてしまう。そして眉間に深々としわを寄せて、ニカッと笑っていきなり踊りだす、そんなキャラが観客を楽しくさせるし、うれしくさせてくれる。これはでも結構貴重なことだ。
今回の「誓いの休暇」は、そんな近藤良平による「近藤良平の楽しみ方」の、出血総決算グランバザールだった舞台中央にうがたれた穴に落ちそうに首を突っ込んでいる学ランの近藤（人形）。すべてはそこから始まる。その穴は異界ほどの遠くにつながっているわけではないが、手品師の小箱のようにいろいろなものが出入りする、ドラえもんのポケットみたいな存在だ。この設定も近藤らしい。あるときはゴルフホール、あるときは巨大ミミズの巣と、展開をあきさせないマジックの構造をになっている。つまり全体がこの穴によってコント集のようにつながり、ダンスやハモニカ、ピアノ演奏やと、開店特別トクダシ期間のパチンコ屋のように、ジャラジャラと音を立てて近藤の持てる能力すべてを全開していった。このいさぎよさ、サービス精神は、ダンスの世界で長い間忘れていた大きなテーマだったといえよう。コンテンポラリーダンスの一端が、こうした近藤良平やコンドルズに代表されるエンターテイメント性によって、「ダンスの力」を復活し始めていることは言うまでもない。近藤良平は貴重な「休暇」を返上して踊りだすが「ソロ、受けなきゃよかった・・・」と、思わず後悔する極私的告白も露出しながら、慰安と労働の切なくつらいバランスシート上に、新しいダンスのありようを証明してくれた。
